This is a fantastic video from a very well respected internet guru, Ed Dale, talking about Twitter and the follow me, follow you madness that seems to stem from it. I’m a big fan of Eds. I recently took his advice and deactivated my third party auto follow and DM (direct message) software and un-followed nearly all my followers. Why, because I wasn’t interested in what 90% of them had to say. Why would I care what someone talking about art and photos has to say. Even more concerning was some of the “careers” some of the people I was following had. I was shocked to say the least.
I am not a snob, if you have something to say that can help me in both my business and social life then I will listen. But I miss all the interesting stuff amongst the hundreds of tweets I receive daily. I have Tweet Deck to organize my followers into groups, but why have all the irrelevant tweets going on when they make no difference to my life whatsoever.
I now follow roughly 40 people, from Internet Marketers to Dana White from the UFC (Ulitmate Fighting Championship). I can see what they Tweet easily, I don’t get worthless emails or DM’s from people I auto-followed and my whole Twitter life has improved. In fact, I’m finally coming around to the fact that indeed, Twitter is an awesome tool to have in the IM arsenal. For my internet business it helps me see what current trends are out there, what people are talking about and it is as current as it could possibly be.
Check out Ed Dale’s video below. Yes, he is frustrated by the whole thing, but last time he brought this up he was shot down in flames. Check it out HERE
All the best,

Chris. That is a GREAT Ed Dale video. I’ve got nearly 2000 followers and I find the mane twitter feed nothing more than a stream of nonsense I can’t really use. Basically to amuse my self I peek at it from time to time and check out some tweets. lol! I’ll be “overhauling” my Twitter “experiene” soon as well. The one thing about Ed’s video is you know while people are watching it they’re thinking, “Yeah …. right Ed. Easy for you to say. You’re freakin’ Ed Dale for cryin’ out loud. You could follow one person and still get 18,000 followers.” lol!!! Still a great video and totally right IMO.
